CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

PHILGBC Chairman Ramon Rufino delivered his report on the accomplishments of the Philippine Green Building Council for 2017.

Highlights of the Chairman's Report

I. Program and Events
    Continued strengthening of PHILGBC's engagement with the membership and
    creating meaningful dialogue with the different sector:
    1.1. Building Green Power Breakfast on June 2017 with representatives
            from the Building Professionals and Service Providers group;
    1.2. Increase awareness in green buildings through green building project
            tours
with with national and local governments, academe, partners, and
            members with green buildings in Metro Manila; and,
    1.3. Continuous engagement with the membership through the Regular and
Special Membership Meetings
.
II. PHILGBC National Convention
     PHILGBC successfully staged a four-day national convention from November
     17 to 21, 2017 with various events happening in Metro Manila. These events
     include:
     2.1. Meeting of Leaders from the World Green Building Council-Asia Pacific 
             Regional Network held on November 17
at the Shangri-La Hotel, Makati
             City and on November 18 at the De La Salle University-Rufino Campus
             at the Bonifacio Global City at Taguig. The meeting was attended by
             seven (7) National GBCs (Australia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong
             Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia);
     2.2. PHILGBC 10-year Anniversary Gala Dinner held on November 17 at the
             Shangri-La Hotel, Makati City, with WorldGBC Chairman Tai Lee Siang
             as our Guest of Honor, were PHILGBC recognized founding members
             and partners, and celebrated our achievements for the past 10 years;
     2.3. Building Green CEO Forum held on November 20 at the Shangri-La hotel at
             Makati City were PHILGBC engaged the chief executives and officers of the
             different member companies to see how we can strengthen our
             promotions of green building in our industry. PHILGBC had EU Ambassador
             Franz Jessen as one of Keynote Speaker;
     2.4. Green Building Tour held on November 20 at various green buildings in
             Metro Manila. Among buildings visited include: The Laguna Lake
             Development Authority Building at Quezon City (3-star BERDE certified
             government building), Zuellig Building at Makati (Platinum-LEED certified
             building), The NET Park at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig (4-star BERDE
             stage 1 certified commercial building), and Arya Residences (BERDE-
             registered residential building); and,
     2.5. National Conference on Collectively Shaping our NAMA for the Building
             Sector held on November 21 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza-Manila at
             Pasay City. The conference was co-organized by the Climate Change
             Commission with support of the United Nations Environment, and was held
             during the Climate Change Consciousness Week.
III. International Events
      PHILGBC have continued our active participation in regional and international
      discussions to strengthen our position in the region and                                                              
      be in the forefront of green building discussions locally and globally. As an
      Established Member of the World Green Building Council, PHILGBC actively
      participated in:
     3.1. WorldGBC Asia-Pacific Regional Network Mid-Year Meeting 2017 in
             Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 2017;
     3.2. WorldGBC Annual General Membership Meeting and Members’ Day in
             Jaipur City, India, October 2017; and,
     3.3. WorldGBC APN Year-End Meeting 2017 hosted by PHILGBC on November    
            17-18 in Manila.
IV. Public Relations
      PHILGBC continued to increase our online presence for information
      dissemination and public awareness. Industry partnerships and engagements
      in various events have also helped PHILGBC achieve a greater reach in our aim
      at educating on green building best practices to advance market 
      transformation.
      4.1. Total of 42 articles, reports and writeups with mention of PHILGBC and/or
              BERDE in several onlime media
outfits including (Philippine Daily Inquirer,
              Rappler.com, Business Mirror, Eco-Business.com, Sun Star Cebu, Manila
              Times, SDG Knowledge Hub, Property Report, Malaya Business Insight,
              Manila Bulletin, BluPrint Magazine, Archikonst Magazine, Shelther
              Magazine, SouthEast Asia Building Magazine);
      4.2. Increased online presence through the PHILGBC and BERDE websites    
              (http://philgbc.org and http://berdeonline.org), Building Green Newsletter,
              Event microsites, and utilization of social media outfits including    
              linkedin, facebook, twitter, and instagram among others (@PHILGBC,    
              #GoBERDE).
      4.3. Participation in trade exhibits and other speaking engagements as
              follows:
              4.3.1.  WorldBEX 2017 held on March 15-19 at the World Trade Center
                          Manila, Philippine Trade Training Center, the SMX Convention    
                          Center;
              4.3.2. 5th Asia Pacific Real Estate Investment Summit held on March 31    
                         at the Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City;
              4.3.3. “CHMSC - Green Building Symposium: Why Green Buildings?” held  
                         on July 24 at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, Talisay City,
                         Negros Occidental;
              4.3.4. Green Building Conference organized by the German-Philippine  
                         Chamber of Commerce and Industry on September 5, 2017; 
              4.3.5. National Civil Engineering Symposium 2017 on September 14 held
                         at the UP Theater, UP Diliman, Quezon City, organized by University
                         of the Philippines Association of Civil Engineering Students (UP
                         ACES);
              4.3.6. Kalikasan GP3 ExpoConference on September 19-22 held at the  
                         SMX Convention Center at Pasay City, organized by the Philippine  
                         Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development;
              4.3.7. ASEAN-China Symposium on Ecologically Friendly Urban  
                         Developments held on November 6-8 at Concorde Hotel, Singapore  
                         organized by the ASEAN, China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation,
                         and the Singapore National Parks Board;
              4.3.8. Iron and Steel Sustainability Forum, November 27, hosted by the
                         Southeast Asia Iron and Steel Institute;
              4.3.9. CEnthesize, a seminar organized by the De La Salle University - Civil  
                         Engineering Society, December 2, 2017;
              4.3.10. Philippine Green Building in the Millenial Generation held at the
                         City of Antipolo Institute of Technology, School of Construction  
                         Engineering on December 4, 2017; and,
              4.3.11. First National Convention on Climate Change and Disaster Risk
                         Reduction held at the Harbour Garden Tent, Sofitel Philippine Plaza
                         on December 6-8, 2017.
V. Government Engagement
     5.1. PHILGBC is contributing to the development of national product standards    
             through various technical committees under the Bureau of Product      
             Standards (BPD) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This year
             the DTI-BPS created the Technical Committee on Forest and Forest-
             Products and PHILGBC was invited to be part of this committee; 
     5.2. PHILGBC partnered again with the National Ecolabelling Programme –
             Green Choice Philippines in delivering the Kalikasan GP3

             ExpoConference;
     5.3. PHILGBC is also actively participating in discussions for the development    
             of the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) for the building
             sector in the Philippines, in partnership with the Climate Change  
             Commission (CCC), the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Department    
             of Energy (DOE), with support from the United Nations Environment (UNE);
     5.4. PHILGBC is continuing the strong partnership with the City of Mandaue in
             ensuring the effective implementation of their Green Building Ordinance.  
             We have been receiving applications from projects being developed within
             the city to undergo the formal BERDE Certification process; and,
     5.5. PHILGBC also organized a workshop with local governments in identifying
             their challenges and their needs in developing appropriate green building  
             policies
for their respective jurisdictions.
VI. BERDE Program
      6.1. PHILGBC released the BERDE Version 2.0.0. This is a major improvement
             for the rating tool and the certification process for BERDE.  Under Version
             2.0.0, PHILGBC redefined the BERDE framework, which focused on nine (9)    
             core categories, and introduced the Electives to promote socio-economic
             credits for green buildings.
     6.2. PHILGBC launched a new BERDE Online, with a cleaner design, and 
             improved functionality, including web to print function, improved searching,  
             and faster updates and addenda. The site is accessible via      
             http://berdeonline.org.
     6.3. Under Certification, PHILGBC have improved the processes for BERDE
             Certification. Results of assessment for projects can now be delivered in a
             shorter period of time.
     6.4. This year, the following projects received their Stage 1 – Design
             certification:
             6.4.1  Botanika Nature Residences (Tower 1) by Filinvest-Alabang Inc., in
                        Muntinlupa, received BERDE Stage 1 3-Star Certification; and
            6.4.2.  DLSU John Gokongwei, Jr. Innovation Center by De La Salle
                        University, in Biñan, Laguna, received BERDE Stage 1 4-Star  
                        Certification.



SECRETARY'S REPORT

Ms. Rowena Ramos, Secretary of the PHILGBC Board of Trustees and Principal Architect of Ecotektonika, delivered the Secretary's Report.

Highlights of the Secretary's Report

I. Membership
   1.1. Number of Members in good standing members increased by 19% for a    
           total of 132 members as of December 18, 2017;
   1.2. PHILGBC also had 18 new members for CY 2017; and,
   1.3. PHILGBC had a total of 13 corporate Sustaining members for 2017:

II.  Membership Meetings
     Three membership meetings for 2017:
     2.1. Regular Membership Meeting and Special Elections for the PHILGBC    
            Board of Trustees held on March at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura
            Premier at Bonifacio Global City;
            2.1.1. Provided the PHILGBC members with learning opportunities through
                       the technical presentations
from the Urban Land Institute, Manila  
                       Electric Company, and Stellar Equipment and Machinery.
            2.1.2. The Special Elections was held during the Regular Membership
                       Meeting where vacant seats in the PHILGBC Board of Trustees for  
                       the year 2017-2018 was elected. The newly elected members of the  
                       Board are as follows:
                       2.1.2.1.  Ms. Anna Maria Gonzales, from Ayala Land Inc., newly  
                                      elected for the Property Developers, Owners, and Brokers;
                       2.1.2.2. Ms. Jennifer Aesquivel, from Design Coordinates Inc., newly
                                     elected for the Building Professionals and Service Providers;
                                     and,
                       2.1.2.3. Mr. Joselito Luna newly elected for the Individuals, Academe  
                                     and Advocates.
     2.2. Special Membership Meeting held on September 2017 at the Dusti Thani    
             Manila, at Makati City in celebration of World Green Building Week.  The    
             special membership meeting is one of several green building events
             happening around the world from September 25-October 1, 2017.
             2.1.1. Technical presentations on Solutions for Green Building Design,
                        Green Building Products and Technologies, and Experience in  
                        building Green Buildings;
             2.1.2.  The Special Membership Meeting was co-organized with the
                        Sustaining Corporate Members of the PHILGBC.
     2.3. Annual Membership Meeting and Elections for the BOT on December 19,
            2017.

Candidates that failed to be present were disqualified following the provisions of the elections document.  Results of the elections for representatives for the PHILGBC Board of Trustees was then announced.
