World Green Building Week 2013: Greener, Better, Healthier Buildings for People and the Planet

September 16, 2013: Boosting student test scores, improving employee productivity, accelerating patient recovery rates, and slashing energy consumption in homes… green buildings are good for the planet and good for people too.

That’s the message from the World Green Building Council as it gears up for its fourth annual World Green Building Week.

From September 16-20 2013, Green Building Councils in 98 countries representing more than 25,000 organizations will host events, run campaigns and celebrate World Green Building Week under the theme: ‘Greener Buildings, Better Places, Healthier People’.

“Green buildings play a fundamental role in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time. World Green Building Week showcases how green buildings are reducing the global carbon footprint, saving money and improving productivity, creating jobs and improving the lives of millions of people,” says the WorldGBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Henley.

From conferences and site tours, to award ceremonies and twitter chats, GBCs will be taking part in hundreds of activities around the world. In the Philippines, the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) will be holding a General Membership Meeting on September 20, 2013, 8:00AM to 11:00AM at F1 Best Western Premier Hotel, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The meeting’s featured topic will be on “Smart Growth” for communities, neighborhoods, and cities, to be discussed by Senen Antonio, Partner and Director for Business Development at DPZ Architects and Town Planners in Miami, Florida.

“Carrying on with our commitment for knowledge-exchange on green building best practices and to facilitate continued advancement of our programs, the PHILGBC looks forward to the participation of professionals involved in the different facets of the built environment and the property sector,” says PHILGBC Chairman Ramon Rufino, inviting fellow green builders to the event.

“The WorldGBC network has expanded from eight GBCs in 2002 to 98 today. This explosive growth underscores the value of our industry, as we work together to create a world of greener, better, healthier buildings,” Ms Henley concludes.
