The Philippine Green Building Council, Inc. will be conducting a series of meetings, hearings and fora to gather inputs and suggestion for the development of the BERDE Rating System. The 1st Consultation Meeting is scheduled on August 4, 2009, 1:00 to 5:30pm at the BERDE Secretariat Office, 3rd Floor, GHD, 111 Paseo de Roxas, Legaspi Village, Makati City. The meeting is entitled "BERDE Consultation Meeting on Life Cycle Assessment of Materials".

The PHILGBC board recently appointed new program directors who will assist in the delivery of the various programs of the council. Arch. Paolo Manalansan is the new program director for Education, Arch. Rowena Ramos for Events and Atty. Saviniano Perez for Special Programs. Their role will be critical to the rapidly growing green building movement in the country.  |

Chris de la Cruz appointed Program Lead for BERDE |

PHILGBC Chairman, Chris de la Cruz was appointed by the board to lead the efforts in the development of BERDE. In early 2000, Chris de la Cruz was part of a group of non-profit organizations that led the development of the Solid Waste Management Manual for Buildings, the project that led to the formation of the Philippine Green Building Council. Part of his tasks involves the formation of the BERDE Steering Committee, representing the stakeholders of the industry and the establishment of the BERDE Development Team. For more information on BERDE you may visit http://berderatingsystem.org. |

The latest updates on BERDE may now be found on the program's website BERDERatingSystem.Org. BERDE (Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence) is the Philippines' National Green Building Rating System. The program's Development Guidelines may now be downloaded and the public is encouraged to contribute to the largest green building program in the country.  Last June 15, 2009, GHD officially became the Platinum Sponsor of the BERDE Program. Under the agreement, GHD shall serve as the BERDE Secretariat and the program's Inception Committee. GHD also made available 30 architects, engineers and consultants to help in the preparation for the nationwide discussions on BERDE. Engr. Leo Ferrer serves as Chairman of the Inception Committee. The committee is now extensively working on the plans to make BERDE a fully consensus based program.  |
