DOE and PHILGBC invite individuals for DOE-PEEP Fellowship

TAGUIG, Philippines. – January 3, 2012 – The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) invites interested and qualified individuals to be part of the DOE-PEEP Fellowship for the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project – Efficient Building Initiative (PEEP-EBI).

The Republic of the Philippines, through the DOE, initiated the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project (PEEP) to demonstrate the societal benefits of implementing energy efficiency programs in the residential, commercial and public sectors. The project is implemented with financial support from the Asia Development Bank (ADB).

One of the subcomponents of PEEP is the Efficient Building Initiative (EBI), which aims to accelerate the implementation of a green building rating system by streamlining existing green building initiatives in the property sector. For this subcomponent, the DOE recognizes the BERDE Green Building Rating System developed by the PHILGBC under the BERDE Program as the National Voluntary Green Building Rating System.

DOE-PEEP-EBI Fellows will undergo the BERDE Professional Basic Training Course as part of the capacity building activities of the BERDE Program under the PEEP-EBI. This course will equip the selected individuals with knowledge to assist project proponents in pursuing BERDE certification. Selected Fellows may also be included in the delegation for study tours in March 2013.
