All over the world, companies are integrating principles of sustainability in their management strategies, product designs, facility construction and operations, personnel development, and community engagement, in response to the global call for sustainable development. Following the “People. Planet. Profit.” theme, this summit aims to encourage more businesses to engage in sustainable practices while maintaining their profitability by helping protect the environment and improve the lives of society. 

This summit will be a live forum where summit delegates will hear from some of the top corporations in the country like Ayala Land, Megaworld Corporation, Holcim, Human Nature, and others regarding their strategies and challenges, and the inspiring success stories in their respective sustainability journeys. Participants will also learn from industry experts who are in the fields of clean fuels and renewable energy like First Environtech Alliance Corp, Hystra, and others about the most current industry trends and innovative technologies as well as learn more about the progression in green buildings and sustainable communities. Taguig City – March 2016 – The Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) is now accepting nominees for the PHILGBC Awards on Leadership in Green Building.

The PHILGBC awards on Leadership in Green Building are designed to showcase and celebrate the achievements of movers in the building and construction industry in the country, and to highlight their green building leadership both locally and internationally.  Winners from the PHILGBC awards on Leadership in Green Building will be the country’s representative to the 2nd World Green Building Council-Asia Pacific Networks’ (WorldGBC-APN) Leadership in Green Building Awards. PHILGBC Chairman, Ramon D. Rufino encourages companies to join the awards and be an inspiration:

The winners of the PHILGBC Awards on Leadership in Green Building are not only being recognized for their significant contribution to Green Building and Sustainability but also being promoted as sources of inspiration for our local real estate industry that people and projects can be successful and profitable in both an economic and environmental sense.

The PHILGBC Awards have two categories: Business Leadership in Sustainability Award and Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award.

The Business Leadership in Sustainability Award recognizes companies which are truly integrating sustainability into their business models and contributing to the transition towards a sustainable built environment. These organizations understand that sustainability presents a long-term business opportunity, demonstrate sustainable practices within their internal and external operations, and show sustainability leadership within industry.

The Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award recognizes pioneering green building projects that deliver a range of benefits through a holistic approach to sustainability. These projects go beyond simply minimizing their impact by considering factors that lead to positive outcomes for both the environment and for people. There are three sub categories under this award: residential, commercial and institutional (schools, hospitals, etc.).

By entering, businesses or projects can:

  • Raise their profile – Finalists and winners of the Awards will be profiled through WorldGBC’s global press, social media and other communications activities.
  • Get in front of the right people – Businesses and projects are judged by a group of renowned and highly influential figures in the green building industry.
  • Receive recognition – The Awards are a chance to celebrate some of the most progressive businesses and projects in a hugely important region for the future of green building.

The PHILGBC Awards are open to all PHILGBC Member companies and green building projects of all sizes. A nominal fee of USD100.00 or PHP4,700.00 per nomination would be collected.

WorldGBC Members Day 2015

The 31 national GBCs from Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and MENA came together at the WorldGBC Congress in Hong Kong to share and learn from each other’s successes in moving forward sustainability in their part of the world.

PHILGBC Chairman, Ramon Rufino, headed the Philippine delegation to this year’s WorldGBC Congress happening from October 27-31 in Hong Kong.

The Members Day and Annual General Membership Meeting was attended by 31 national GBCs from Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and MENA.

Mandaue City Awarded with the APEC Low Carbon Model Town

CEBU CITY, 14 October 2015 – Mandaue City was selected as the next Low Carbon Model Town of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). One of the highlights of the 12th APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting in Cebu last 13 October 2015, Secretary Zenaida Monsada of the Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) and Chair of the APEC 12th EMM announced that Mandaue City will be part of the Phase 6 of the LCMT project, joining case towns from other APEC economies, such as Koh Samui in Thailand, Da Nang in Vietnam, and San Borja in Peru.
