MAKATI CITY, Philippines --- January 28, 2010 --- the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) and the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) pushes through with the Building Green CEO Forum at the Makati Shangri-La Manila. Opening the event was Pacific Paints (Boysen) Philippines Vice President Mr. Johnson Ongking.
Mr. Ongking tapped on green chemistry, which refers to the development of chemical products to reduce or eliminate the use and generation of substances hazardous to human health and the environment. Upon presenting various facts and statistics on pollution and the environment, he stressed that sustainability should be a goal in the industry, and that the negative impact of buildings on human health and the environment should be reduced and ultimately eliminated.
The CEO Forum is part of a series of conferences that will open the dialogue on sustainability in the property sector. It brought together people from the industry, the Philippine government, and the academe to discuss the issues and challenges on the development of BERDE as the national green building rating system.
