The PhilGBC recently conducted a green building orientation seminar for the city and municipal engineers of the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental last August 22, 2007 at the Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City. The project was co-funded in part by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Autodesk, leading building software developer, expressed its support and cooperation for the Philippine Green Building Council (PhilGBC) efforts to promote safe, environmentally sound and socially responsible building practices during the group’s first General Membership Meeting.
The meeting, which was attended by around ninety leaders in the building industry professionals, material suppliers, academe, government and civil society including representatives of the Green Architecture Movement of the United Architects of the Philippines (GAM-UAP), Council of Deans and Heads of Architectural Schools in the Philippines (CODHASP), City of Makati, Ayala Foundation, Inc., Matimco Incorporated, Puyat Steel Corporation, BCI Asia, Colliers International, Cemex, Hi-Cool Engineering Corporation, Adco Blue, Decopro, Inc., CB Engineers and Chinabank, was held last January 24, 2008 at the Hotel Renaissance in Makati City.

Secretary Lito Atienza of Department for Environment and Natural Resources will open the Manila FuturArc Forum on 29 February 2008. This will be the fourth conference after the series of FuturArc Forum 2008 opens in Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on the prior weeks. Academic lectures and authors, who are pioneers in green building, as well as green building practitioner will speak at the conference. Dr Deo Prasad of University of New South Wales will speak about The Principle of Green Building, followed by Dr Nirmal Kishnani of University of Singapore who will present The Practice of Green Building. They will be joined by Ulf Meyer, the German-based author and lecturer on progressive architecture, who will describe Two Decades of Sustainable Architecture in Europe. Dr Matthias Krups of BCI Asia will end the morning session with presentation on green building market survey in nine regions.
The Minister of Energy, Water and Communications Y.B. Dato Seri Dr. Lim Keng Yaik formally opened the Conference on Sustainable Building 07 South East Asia (SB)&SEA) last November 5, 2007 at theKuala Lumpur Convention Center. The regional conference is part of an international conference series on Sustainable Building co-sponsored by the International Council on Research and Innovation in Building Construction (CIB), The International Initiatives for Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
SB07SEA seeks to continually address the various and complex issues that architects,engineers, developers, contractors and policy makers face in developing workable solutions for the built environment. Various experts, academics and luminaries from the building industries from across the South East Asian region were invited to share their insight in solving the complex environment impacts their respective countries are now facing.

Taguig City Mayor Sigfrido Tinga delivered the welcome remarks during the recently concluded Building Green 2007 held at the Market! Market in Fort Global City. Taguig City was the host city of the first Green Building event in the Philippines. Building Green 2007 was stage of the nationwide campaign to promote greener buildings in the Philippines.

Leading property developer Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) has made it a standard to incorporate energy-saving and environmentally sound technology and procedures into its office projects.
Environmentally and economically sustainable buildings will no longer simply be pipe dreams in the Philippines within the next 18 months.
Two "green" office buildings are slated to be completed by ALI this year and late next year.
